What we collect about you

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, personal information falls into statutory categories. We collect one:

We collect none of the other categories: no name or postal address, no financial or payment information, no biometric data, no geolocation, no browsing activity across other sites, no employment or education records, no sensitive personal information, and we draw no inferences about you.

Where it comes from and why

All of it comes directly from you: your email when the account is created, and an address each time you choose to run a report. It is used to operate the service you asked for, and for nothing else.

We do not sell or share your personal information

We have never sold personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Because we do neither, there is nothing to opt out of — but the right exists and the page saying so is here.

We also do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for any purpose that would require the right to limit it.

Your rights

How to exercise them

Write to hello@scantheblock.com from the email address on the account. That address is how we verify a request, since it is the only identifier we hold. We will respond within 45 days and will say so if we need the extension the statute allows.

An authorised agent may act for you with written permission; we will still verify with you directly.

How long we keep it

Your email lasts as long as the account. Report receipts last until you delete them or close the account. The security log is deleted automatically after twelve months. None of it is retained for any other purpose, and you may export or delete your own record at any time.
